Eye rivets solve a specific problem: you need a permanent, load-bearing attachment point without adding much weight or bulk. The shaft is machined for a precise fit into a pre-drilled hole, then the tail end is upset, widened under force, so the rivet locks itself into the material with no threads or nuts to back off over time. Built from type 316 stainless steel, they hold up well in outdoor, marine, or otherwise corrosive environments where a standard rivet would eventually fail.
