This 7/8″ Type 304 stainless steel wire rope features a versatile 6×19 construction that delivers an excellent balance of flexibility, abrasion resistance, and corrosion protection. Commonly used for hoisting, suspension systems, winch lines, and general rigging applications, it is a dependable choice for environments where rust resistance and long-term durability are important.
The 6×19 class is one of the most popular wire rope constructions due to its combination of strength, flexibility, and wear resistance. Compared to 6×37 wire rope, the 6×19 construction provides greater abrasion resistance, making it well-suited for applications where the rope regularly contacts drums, sheaves, and other equipment surfaces.
Type 304 stainless steel offers superior corrosion resistance compared to galvanized wire rope while maintaining greater strength than Type 316 stainless steel. This makes it an excellent choice for most industrial, commercial, and outdoor applications where rust protection is required without the added cost of marine-grade stainless steel.
The class of this wire rope is 6×19. These numbers nominally refer to the rope construction, consisting of six outer strands surrounding the core, with approximately 15-26 wires making up each strand. This configuration provides a strong balance of flexibility and abrasion resistance for general-purpose use.
Compared to a 6×37 construction, 6×19 wire rope offers improved wear resistance but slightly lower flexibility and fatigue resistance.
Type 304 stainless steel provides dependable corrosion resistance in a wide range of environments and is commonly selected for applications exposed to moisture, weather, or occasional corrosive conditions. It offers greater strength than Type 316 stainless steel while remaining a cost-effective stainless option.
The Independent Wire Rope Core (IWRC) provides greater structural support than fiber core constructions. IWRC wire rope offers enhanced crushing resistance, improved load stability, and reliable performance in temperatures ranging from -40F to 400F.
Will my 304 stainless steel wire rope arrive as one continuous length?
Yes. The quantity you order will be supplied as one continuous, uncut length of wire rope. For example, if you order a quantity of 1,000, you will receive a single 1,000-foot length.
Can I order multiple separate lengths?
Yes. To receive multiple lengths, add each length to your cart as a separate line item. For example, if you need two 1,500-foot lengths, enter a quantity of 1,500 and add it to your cart twice. Each line item will be cut and supplied as a separate length.
Can I order lengths shorter than the minimum order quantity if the combined total exceeds the minimum?
Yes. If your combined order will exceed the minimum quantity requirement but you need shorter individual lengths, please call our team to place your order. One of our product experts will be happy to assist.
Complete your wire rope assembly with compatible wire rope fittings and rigging hardware. We carry a variety of type 304 stainless steel accessories, including wire rope clips and wire rope thimbles, to help you create a secure and reliable assembly. For best results, use type 304 stainless steel components throughout your system, as mixing materials or finishes can lead to galvanic corrosion and reduced performance over time.
