This 5/8″ galvanized wire rope is manufactured from Extra Improved Plow Steel (EIPS) and features a flexible 6×37 class construction. Designed for applications requiring repeated bending and dependable strength, this wire rope performs well in hoisting, suspension systems, winch lines, and general rigging applications. Its combination of flexibility, fatigue resistance, and corrosion protection makes it a popular choice for both indoor and outdoor use.
The 6×37 class is known for its superior flexibility and fatigue resistance compared to 6×19 wire rope. This construction performs exceptionally well in applications where the rope frequently travels over sheaves or drums, helping extend service life in dynamic lifting systems. While it offers less abrasion resistance than a 6×19 rope, it excels in applications requiring continuous movement and repeated bending.
Our wire rope is manufactured using EIPS-grade steel. EIPS (Extra Improved Plow Steel) provides approximately 10% greater tensile strength than standard IPS-grade wire rope, resulting in increased breaking strength and reliable performance under demanding loads.
The class of this wire rope is 6×37. These numbers nominally refer to the rope construction, consisting of six outer strands surrounding the core, with approximately 27-49 wires making up each strand. The actual construction supplied is 6×36, which falls within the 6×37 classification and delivers the flexibility and fatigue resistance this rope class is known for.
This wire rope features a hot dip drawn galvanized finish that provides enhanced corrosion resistance while maintaining the rope’s original strength. Unlike traditional galvanizing processes that can reduce breaking strength, the drawn galvanizing process preserves the full strength of the wire rope while increasing ductility and long-term durability. The galvanized coating is also more resistant to flaking and cracking than electro-galvanized alternatives.
The Independent Wire Rope Core (IWRC) offers greater support than fiber core constructions. IWRC wire rope provides superior crush resistance, improved load stability, and dependable operation in temperatures ranging from -40F to 400F.
Will my wire rope arrive as one continuous length?
Yes. The quantity you order will be supplied as one continuous, uncut length of wire rope. For example, if you order a quantity of 1,000, you will receive a single 1,000-foot length.
Can I order multiple separate lengths?
Yes. To receive multiple lengths, add each length to your cart as a separate line item. For example, if you need two 1,500-foot lengths, enter a quantity of 1,500 and add it to your cart twice. Each line item will be cut and supplied as a separate length.
Can I order lengths shorter than the minimum order quantity if the combined total exceeds the minimum?
Yes. If your combined order will exceed the minimum quantity requirement but you need shorter individual lengths, please call our team to place your order. One of our product experts will be happy to assist.
