This 3/8″ 7×19 aircraft cable is manufactured from Type 316 stainless steel and is a popular choice for marine rigging, boat lifts, deck railing systems, pulleys, winches, and other applications exposed to harsh environments. The 7×19 construction utilizes smaller individual wires to provide exceptional flexibility and fatigue resistance, making it easy to handle while delivering long-lasting performance in demanding conditions.
Note: Despite the name, aircraft cable is not intended for aircraft use. Consult a qualified rigging professional before using this cable in critical overhead lifting applications.
Type 316 stainless steel is widely recognized as the preferred material for marine and coastal environments due to its superior corrosion resistance. The addition of molybdenum improves protection against rust, saltwater exposure, and harsh weather conditions. While 316 stainless steel is slightly less strong than Type 304 stainless steel, it provides the highest level of corrosion resistance available for stainless aircraft cable applications.
Aircraft cable is typically available in diameters up to 3/8″, while traditional wire rope is commonly manufactured in much larger diameters. The smaller strand construction found in aircraft cable creates greater flexibility, making it ideal for cable railing systems, pulleys, fitness equipment, marine applications, and other installations requiring repeated bending.
This aircraft cable is manufactured from Type 316 stainless steel. Often referred to as marine-grade stainless steel, Type 316 offers outstanding corrosion resistance and is commonly used in environments exposed to moisture, saltwater, chemicals, and extreme weather.
The class of this cable is 7×19. In aircraft cable construction, these numbers represent the total number of strands, including the core strand, and an approximation of the number of wires within each strand. A 7×19 construction consists of seven strands, each containing approximately 15-26 individual wires, creating a highly flexible and fatigue-resistant cable.
Will my 316 stainless steel wire rope arrive as one continuous length?
Yes. The quantity you order will be supplied as one continuous, uncut length of wire rope. For example, if you order a quantity of 1,000, you will receive a single 1,000-foot length.
Can I order multiple separate lengths?
Yes. To receive multiple lengths, add each length to your cart as a separate line item. For example, if you need two 1,500-foot lengths, enter a quantity of 1,500 and add it to your cart twice. Each line item will be cut and supplied as a separate length.
Can I order lengths shorter than the minimum order quantity if the combined total exceeds the minimum?
Yes. If your combined order will exceed the minimum quantity requirement but you need shorter individual lengths, please call our team to place your order. One of our product experts will be happy to assist.
Complete your aircraft cable assembly with compatible wire rope fittings and rigging hardware. We carry a variety of type 316 stainless steel accessories, including wire rope clips, turnbuckles, and eye bolts, to help you create a secure and dependable cable system. For optimal corrosion resistance and long-term performance, we recommend using type 316 stainless steel components throughout your assembly, as mixing different materials or finishes can increase the risk of galvanic corrosion.
