This 5/16″ bright steel wire rope is manufactured from Extra Improved Plow Steel (EIPS) and features a 6×19 class construction with an Independent Wire Rope Core (IWRC). Known for its balance of flexibility and abrasion resistance, 6×19 wire rope is a versatile choice for lifting, hoisting, winch lines, suspension systems, and general rigging applications.

General-Purpose Wire Rope for Hoisting, Rigging & Winching

The 6×19 construction offers greater abrasion resistance than 6×37 wire rope, making it well-suited for applications where the rope regularly contacts drums, sheaves, or other surfaces. While not as flexible as a 6×37 construction, it provides excellent durability and dependable performance in demanding industrial environments.

6×19 Wire Rope Configuration

Our wire rope is manufactured using EIPS-grade steel. EIPS (Extra Improved Plow Steel) offers approximately 10% greater tensile strength than standard IPS-grade wire rope, resulting in improved break strength and enhanced load-handling capability.

The class of this wire rope is 6×19. These numbers nominally refer to the rope construction, indicating six outer strands with approximately 15-26 wires within each strand. This construction delivers an ideal combination of strength, wear resistance, and moderate flexibility.

Finish & Core

This wire rope features a bright steel finish, meaning it is uncoated and treated with an A-1 petroleum-based lubricant. The lubricant reduces friction between wires and strands while providing basic moisture and corrosion resistance. Lubrication is applied to both internal and external wires to help extend service life.

The Independent Wire Rope Core (IWRC) provides increased support compared to fiber core alternatives, improving crushing resistance, maintaining rope shape under load, and enhancing overall durability. Typical operating temperatures range from -40F to 400F.

Will my wire rope arrive as one continuous length?
Yes. The quantity you order will be supplied as one continuous, uncut length of wire rope. For example, if you order a quantity of 1,000, you will receive a single 1,000-foot length.

Can I order multiple separate lengths?
Yes. To receive multiple lengths, add each length to your cart as a separate line item. For example, if you need two 1,500-foot lengths, enter a quantity of 1,500 and add it to your cart twice. Each line item will be cut and supplied as a separate length.

Can I order lengths shorter than the minimum order quantity if the combined total exceeds the minimum?
Yes. If your combined order will exceed the minimum quantity requirement but you need shorter individual lengths, please call our team to place your order. One of our product experts will be happy to assist.
