5/32″ 7×19 Aircraft Cable | Galvanized

This 5/32″ galvanized 7×19 aircraft cable is a versatile steel cable designed for applications requiring flexibility, durability, and corrosion resistance. Commonly used for deck railing systems, pulleys, winches, exercise equipment, and general utility applications, the 7×19 construction provides excellent flexibility and fatigue resistance for long service life in demanding environments.

Note: Despite the name, aircraft cable is not intended for aircraft use. Before using this cable for critical overhead lifting applications, consult a qualified rigging professional.

Flexible Galvanized Steel Cable for Railings, Pulleys & Winches

The 7×19 construction utilizes a high strand count and smaller individual wires, allowing the cable to bend easily around pulleys and fittings while resisting fatigue caused by repeated movement. Combined with a hot-dip drawn galvanized finish, this cable delivers dependable strength and enhanced corrosion protection for both indoor and outdoor applications.

How Does Aircraft Cable Differ From Wire Rope?

Aircraft cable is generally available in diameters up to 3/8″, while traditional wire rope can be manufactured in diameters exceeding 2″. Aircraft cable is designed with greater flexibility and ease of handling in mind, making it ideal for applications requiring frequent bending and movement.

7×19 Steel Cable Configuration

This aircraft cable is manufactured using IPS-grade (Improved Plow Steel) materials. IPS is the standard steel grade used in aircraft cable construction and provides dependable strength for a wide variety of applications.

The class of this cable is 7×19. These numbers refer to the cable’s construction, consisting of seven total strands, including the core strand, with approximately 15-26 wires per strand. Six outer strands are wrapped around a central core strand to create a flexible, fatigue-resistant cable.

Hot-Dip Drawn Galvanized Finish

The hot-dip drawn galvanization process provides superior corrosion resistance while maintaining cable strength. Unlike traditional galvanizing methods that may reduce break strength, the drawn galvanizing process preserves the cable’s performance characteristics while enhancing durability. This finish also improves ductility and resists cracking or flaking that can occur with electro-galvanized coatings.
