This 5/8″ 8×19 spin-resistant wire rope is designed to help minimize load rotation during lifting and hoisting operations. Its specialized construction features inner strands laid in the opposite direction of the outer strands, allowing rotational forces to counteract one another while under load. This design makes it well-suited for hoisting unguided loads with single-part or multi-part line systems where reducing load spin is important for safety and performance.
The 8×19 class combines flexibility, durability, and limited rotation resistance, making it a practical choice for lifting operations where some degree of spin control is required. As a Category 3 Rotation-Resistant Rope, it provides less rotation resistance than Category 2 constructions such as 19×7 or 19×19 compacted ropes, but offers improved durability and service life in many demanding applications.
This rope should not be used with a swivel, as doing so may negatively affect the rope’s rotational performance and structural integrity.
Our wire rope is manufactured using EIPS-grade steel. EIPS (Extra Improved Plow Steel) provides approximately 10% greater tensile strength than standard IPS-grade wire rope, resulting in increased breaking strength and dependable performance under heavy loads.
The class of this wire rope is 8×19. These numbers nominally refer to the rope construction, consisting of eight outer strands surrounding the core, with approximately 15-26 wires making up each strand. The actual construction supplied is 8×25, providing a balance of flexibility, strength, and durability for lifting applications.
This rope features a bright steel finish protected with A-1 petroleum-based lubricant applied to both internal and external wires. The lubricant helps reduce friction, minimize internal wear, and provide basic protection against moisture and corrosion.
The Independent Wire Rope Core (IWRC) provides superior support compared to fiber core constructions. IWRC wire rope offers increased crush resistance, improved load stability, and dependable operation in temperatures ranging from -40F to 400F.
Will my wire rope arrive as one continuous length?
Yes. The quantity you order will be supplied as one continuous, uncut length of wire rope. For example, if you order a quantity of 1,000, you will receive a single 1,000-foot length.
Can I order multiple separate lengths?
Yes. To receive multiple lengths, add each length to your cart as a separate line item. For example, if you need two 1,500-foot lengths, enter a quantity of 1,500 and add it to your cart twice. Each line item will be cut and supplied as a separate length.
Can I order lengths shorter than the minimum order quantity if the combined total exceeds the minimum?
Yes. If your combined order will exceed the minimum quantity requirement but you need shorter individual lengths, please call our team to place your order. One of our product experts will be happy to assist.
