Corrosion-Resistant Stainless Steel Wire Rope for Rigging & Hoisting

Type 304 stainless steel offers greater corrosion resistance than galvanized wire rope while providing higher strength and a more economical price point than Type 316 stainless steel. This makes it a popular choice for construction, industrial, architectural, and outdoor applications where reliable rust protection is required.

The 6×19 construction delivers enhanced abrasion resistance compared to a 6×37 wire rope, making it ideal for applications involving regular contact with drums, sheaves, and other wear surfaces. While slightly less flexible than a 6×37 construction, it provides excellent durability and service life in demanding environments.

6×19 Wire Rope Configuration

This wire rope is manufactured from Type 304 stainless steel, offering an excellent combination of strength, corrosion resistance, and long-term performance. It is well-suited for applications exposed to weather, moisture, and other corrosive conditions where standard carbon steel wire rope may not be appropriate.

The class of this wire rope is 6×19. These numbers nominally refer to the rope construction, consisting of six outer strands surrounding the core, with approximately 15-26 wires making up each strand. This construction creates a balance of flexibility, strength, and abrasion resistance for a wide variety of applications.

IWRC Construction

The Independent Wire Rope Core (IWRC) provides greater support than fiber core constructions. IWRC wire rope offers improved crush resistance, enhanced load stability, and dependable performance in temperatures ranging from -40F to 400F.

Compared to a 6×37 wire rope, the 6×19 construction offers greater abrasion resistance but less flexibility and fatigue resistance, making it ideal for applications where wear resistance is the primary concern.
