Some retrofit connections need more than a standard-strength rod can deliver, and that’s where the RFB Grade 105 comes in. It’s the heavy-duty option in the retrofit bolt lineup, built from higher-strength carbon steel for jobs where load demands call for it, and it installs the same way as the rest of the RFB line: straight into existing, cured concrete or masonry with a Simpson Strong-Tie anchoring adhesive. It arrives precut, oil-free, and complete with nut and washer, and both ends are stamped and color-coded red so the grade is easy to confirm on-site or during inspection. When the retrofit calls for a stronger anchor without changing the installation method your crew already knows, this is the one to reach for.

Key Features

  • Precut, oil-free threaded rod supplied complete with matching nut and washer
  • Grade 105 carbon steel construction for higher-capacity retrofit anchoring needs
  • Zinc plated finish for corrosion resistance in typical above-grade and protected applications
  • Red color coding and end stamping for fast grade identification on the job and at inspection
  • Installs into cured concrete and masonry, no need to set anchors before the pour
  • Available across a range of diameters and lengths to match your project specs

Applications

  • Sill plate to foundation attachment
  • Seismic retrofit and cripple wall strengthening on structures with greater load demands
  • Foundation upgrades
  • Structural repairs into concrete or masonry
  • Jobs where the design or spec sheet calls out a higher-strength anchor than standard grade

Installation

Drill the anchor hole to the diameter and embedment depth called out in the current Simpson Strong-Tie adhesive anchoring documentation for your base material, then clean the hole thoroughly before installing. Inject the approved Simpson Strong-Tie anchoring adhesive and seat the RFB bolt to the specified embedment depth. The witness hole in the rod lets you confirm adhesive reached the top of the anchor before it cures. Once cured, add the washer and nut and torque to the connection’s design requirements. Always confirm hole prep, adhesive selection, embedment, and edge/spacing distances against current manufacturer documentation, project specs, and local code before installing, and consult a qualified professional for engineered or seismic retrofit applications.
